Michael S. Cooke, Senior Pastor
Michael Cooke is the new senior pastor of Northshore Church. He currently holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies from North Greenville University, and a Master of Divinity with a specialization in Expository Preaching from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Michael is also in the professional doctorate program at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he plans to graduate with a Doctor of Ministry with a specialization in Evangelistic Church Growth in December of 2025.
Michael has been in ministry for 20 years serving local churches in both Louisiana and his native South Carolina as a youth minister, evangelist, senior pastor, a church planter, and a campus life pastor. Michael loves the local church, as she is part of the Bride of Christ, and he has an evangelistic zeal to see the lost come into a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. “I cannot wait to experience all that God has in store for Northshore Church, as we seek to obey His will together and make disciples of Son Jesus Christ in the years to come. As the under-shepherd of this congregation I look forward to leading a great team of men and women who are dedicated to glorifying the Lord by obeying the commands He set forth in the Great Commission.”
Michael has been married, to his wife Jamie, for 19 years. “I have known Jamie since we were teenagers and I thank the Lord every day for blessing me with such a beautiful, godly, young woman to be my wife. We do ministry as we do life: together, daily, and with great joy! She is a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and support. We have been blessed with four beautiful children; Sawyer, Lola, Jamison, and Oliver. Sawyer is our varsity runner who hopes to one day attend LSU on a running scholarship. Lola is our only little princess, who is brimming with creativity and loves art, basketball, and all things horses. Jamison is our outdoorsman who loves to fish, and is an excellent artist, and has a rocket for an arm as a third baseman. And last but certainly not least, is our little Ollie. Ollie loves keeping up with his brothers and sister when it comes to sports, and will probably one day outplay them all! He is one of the most natural defenders in basketball that we have ever seen. God has truly blessed us with amazing children, who know and love Him, and we cannot wait to see how He will glorify Himself with their lives. They, as well as their mother and I, are His, and they will go and do as He will call them to His appointed purpose, however and wherever that might be… and for that we are eternally thankful and grateful.”
